Background
About XBRL in relation to Financial Reporting

XBRL is a standard which helps companies and organizations to share information using a common digital business language. It allows data to be more consistent and comparable between different organizations, concentrating on financial reporting and analysis.

XBRL is being developed by an international non-profit group of companies, organizations and government agencies, including many of the world's accounting, technology, government and financial services bodies.

The standard is currently in use around the world by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the U.K. Inland Revenue Service, among others. For additional information on XBRL, please visit XBRL International.

XBRL in Europe is a project financed by the European Commission to speed up the use of the eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) in Europe by increasing awareness and helping to found national jurisdictions.
