Basel Reporting Requirements

Home >Basel II >

Data is likely to be captured monthly and the underlying on-balance sheetshould be reconciled to any General Ledger.

Data used in reports should be capable of being decomposed into the underlying credit risk elements and these elements should be capable of further decomposition to the models from which they were calculated and in turn to the underlying transactions that they represent: represented by the three categories of reporting set out in the Accord of External Disclosure, Regulatory Reporting and Internal Reporting

Data should be captured from business areas at a detailed level and consolidated into higher-level portfolios from which reports will be produced. This consolidation will be based on the firms internal and legal hierarchies.

A system should be built that will capture, store and consolidate credit risk data to produce thereports in a controlled and auditable way.In order to provide the system with the necessary data, thebusiness areaw should manage changes to source systems and developcompliant credit risk models.

Validation of Requirements To validate the business requirements, to prove the approach and to provide the business areas with a definitive data specification for their own areas, a prototype (with a subset of credit risk data) should be produced.
