The China Banking Regulatory Commission CBRC has been actively encouraging big Chinese banks to speed up their efforts to build up the internal-ratings-based approach in accordance with the Basel II requirements and improve their risk management capabilities.

The CBRC realise that they must adopt international standards, such as Basel II, International Financial Reporting Standards and Sarbanes Oxley.

At the current stage the G10 countries have agreed to implement the Basel II Accord in 2007.
