Basel Data Credit Exposure can be split into many segmentation groups as follows:

Corporate: defined as exposure from an asset that uses a process of individual sanction/underwriting. For the purpose of the data capture the segment could further be divided into:

Wholesale: represented by any business to business lending; and ,

Non-Wholesale: representing all other corporate business requiring individual underwriting. It should be noted that some corporate business banking assets are underwritten based on credit scores and therefore fall as part of the ‘Other’ category explained in more detail below;

Retail Banking; including Mortgages, Overdrafts, Credit Cards and Personal Loans including Fully Participated Loans.

Life Insurance

“Other”: defined as an exposure sanctioned as part of a portfolio using a credit scoring process.
